About the Artist

Hi! Welcome to my art page! My name is Vanessa De La Torre. I am a 22 year old Chicago artist with Mexican roots, Currently I am at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, soon to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Painting and Drawing. 
I am so glad you are here exploring and learning more about my practice. My life goal is to inspire others and show them that a path down a creative career is most definitely an option and is equally as important to the world as all other career paths. 
It is during hard times like these that we need that extra motivation to keep going. To be positive and hopeful that things will look up. Through my art I aspire to exemplify the stories of those who are silenced, oppressed and marginalized by current leaders. Earth is a borrowed place where we only live to pass, meaning there are no borders and no land belongs to anyone. That’s the message I want to send. Immigration is a beautiful thing of life and makes for people to experience the amazing culture of other places.
